Rubix: Red Album Live (video)

Hey

Almost 2 weeks ago now, (time flies) we had the Rubix album red show at the Chelsea Theater on the 27th June. The show went really well, and we were lucky enough to have the whole event filmed by On TheRed
Which you can see below.

We were also lucky enough to have a nice review written for us by David Kwaw Mensah which you can read HERE

You can purchase the full album HERE

Come Rhyme With Me 2012

Happy New Year and all that. Have a wee look at the fresh E-Flyers for CMWM, which is a wicked event run by fellow Rubix members Deanna Rodger and Dean Atta. They theme the night around a menu and there is also the option of having a Caribbean meal. The night started back in July 2010 and I was lucky enough to be "The Starer" on the menu, it was also the day I left my old job, so fond memories. Since then, theve now expanded into Brighton, and this year I will be performing at both events in March, on the 15th (Brighton) and 29th (London). They line-ups are always top notch and the food is wicked too!

Talia Randall: 3 mile Radius EP Launch

Tuesday 20th at the Roundhouse is the launch of Talia Randall's debut EP 3 Mile Radius.

I've known Talia now for over 3 years and have worked with her many times from Roundhouse Poetry Collective through to Rubix and also many different shows and also a workshop program we devised together. She's hands down one of my favorite writers out there at the moment, in a league of her own and this summer at Camp Bestival blew me away with one of the best Spoken Word sets I've ever seen, mostly of which, I believe, is the material which will be appearing on the EP.

I know she has spent a long time crafting all the pieces for this EP and she is working with some don musicians in the form of Elian Grey, Jamie and Noemie Ducimetiere, all who are from the banging Emergeing Species record label who are putting the EP out, copies of which will be available on the night.

Support on the night comes in the from of Sean Mahoney, Rob Auton, Kaite Bonna and myself, and I'll probably be drawing for some of my music related stuff, I'm looking foreword to it!

You can get you're self a ticket HERE  for a mere £5, I believe all the early bird £3 squid tickets are sold out. Reach if you can, it should be a banger!

Rubix Red

Yes, it's here at last!

This the album I have featured on as part of Rubix. It's our very first album together, which has come courtesy of Roundhouse Records

As you may have guessed, we all wrote tracks on the theme of Red, and will be slowly working through the colours of the aptly named cube.

Have a look at the trailer, there are links and stuff to buy it if you're interested, hope you enjoy...

A Pale Shade of White

On Wednesday this week, whilst at the launch for the Ryming Thunder   book, my friend and fellow Rubix member Bridget Minamore performed a poem called Melanie. It's a very good piece of writing and inspired me to dig this one out, which isn't actually that old, I'd just forgotten about it

You can read and see more of Bridget right HERE

Sean Mahoney - TV lights

Good afternoon

Happy Monday. Happy valentines day, whether or not you choose to celebrate, or you just don't have anyone to celebrate with, or your significant other has had to cancel all plans because of circumstances beyond his / her control (such as Brighton vs Millwall tonight, come on you Lions!!!).

Regardless of all of that, this is a exceptional piece of spoken word from my good friend Sean Mahoney, whom I've learnt loads from having been lucky enough to spend a lot of time with him through the Roundhouse Poetry Collective, Rubix and the adventures we've had running round Edinburgh 2 years in a row plus the now countless other  gigs we've done together.

The video has been released today by Upshot TV for Valentines day and was filmed on home turf at The Roundhouse. Looks like theve got some other good video's coming up with the likes of Greeds, Indigo Willams and Deanna Rodger to name but a few. Sean is also a stand up comedian and is well worth following on twitter, he keeps me amused! Follow him HERE.

PAGE MATCH 2: BIGGER AND BOLDER!!!

Ah yes, the Pagematch 2!!

The wonderful people over at BANG SAID THE GUN, who run, what is in my opinion, one of the best spoken word nights in London (and there are a lot these days!) have put together, in a way that only they can, the second instalment of the almighty battle that is  PAGE MATCH.

Essentially, this is about fun (The idea was conceived at a very late and drunken hour at a field, in a tent, at the Meadowlands festival last summer) . It's the coming together of some of London's best  spoken word collectives in one event, with all the exaggeration of a classic WWF Royal Rumble.

The line up speaks for itself. Make no mistake, these are heavyweights! Last year's (suspicious) winners Bang Said The Gun, will be competing alongside my camp, The Rubix, as well as solid contenders Ditry Hands, The Roundhouse Poetry Collective and new but by no means unknown teams Chil Pill, Wordamouth and Apples and Snakes. The judges are as they were, Salena Godden, Charlie Dark and Nial O' Sullivan. It's going to be epic! Only problem is, a renegade collective has sprung up and stolen the Page Match Belt, calling themselvs the PAP see below! ... (for the record this has nothing, nothing, nothing whatsever to do with me, or Sean Mahoney or Peter Hayhoe....nothing at all)
