Come Rhyme With Me

Happy Friday and all that!

Tonight, I start a nice little 3-legged gig run with Come Rhyme With Me starting in Crawley today, then Brighton on May 16th (feat Sabrina Mahfouz and Kendel Hippolyte) and finishing May 30th in London (feat Moona Moon and Jay Bernard).

Crawley is a town where I did a lot of my growing up and still have a lot of fond memories so I'm pretty excited, my parents are coming! It's part of the annual Crawley Wordfest which is a jam packed schedule of decent events happening around the town. The line up for Crawley features heavyweights Hollie McNish, Sabrina Mahfouz, and of course Dean Atta and Deanna Rodger who run the event. Come and reach!

Come Rhyme With Me 2012

Happy New Year and all that. Have a wee look at the fresh E-Flyers for CMWM, which is a wicked event run by fellow Rubix members Deanna Rodger and Dean Atta. They theme the night around a menu and there is also the option of having a Caribbean meal. The night started back in July 2010 and I was lucky enough to be "The Starer" on the menu, it was also the day I left my old job, so fond memories. Since then, theve now expanded into Brighton, and this year I will be performing at both events in March, on the 15th (Brighton) and 29th (London). They line-ups are always top notch and the food is wicked too!

Crawley Wordfest: Spoken Word Sunday 1st April

Greetings!

This Sunday (1st April 2012), at Adelio's Open House in Crawley, I've asked to put together a spoken word evening as part of the ever expanding Crawley Wordfest. Now in it's second year, it's come on even stronger than last, all you need to do is have a look at the programme of events on the website. This is a great thing for me to be part of as  Crawley is the town where I did a lot of my growing up. I went to school there, I had and still have, good friends there, I first MCed in Crawley, I played football in Crawley, I went to cadets in Crawley, I got drunk (many times) in Crawley the list goes on....

I've called upon some good friends and some of London's strongest performers to come down and grace the stage, they go by the names of Dean Atta Rob Auton and Sean Mahoney

Doors open at 7:30 and it's a mere £3 on the door!
This is a video I did for last year's festival with Simon Edwards from Pop Up Media.

Dean Atta: I am Nobody's N****r

And he's right! But he's my mate and a fellow performer and I'm not ashamed to say that!
I think he has broached a difficult cause with dignity and understanding. To me, it's always been a powerful word steeped in hatred and I've never felt comfortable round anyone saying it, regardless of colour. So big up Dean, check the video below for an all star cast!

White Night

'Ello

On Saturday 29th October, I will be performing in Brighton as part of the WHITE NIGHT festival. Looking at the schedule, it looks like there is something happening all over town so could be worth checking out. I will be performing at the offices of New Writing South between 7pm and 4 am. The night is curated by all round spoken word dona and fellow RUBIX member Dean Atta, as well as well as SEAN MAHONEY and FEMI MARTIN
